“Twenty-four sport pictograms and a series of sport illustrations for the 2010 Winter Games are revealed in September 2008. Created by Dutch illustrator Irene Jacobs of I’m JAC Design, the pictograms depict the 2010 Winter Games sports using a simplified silhouette with small details depicting the dynamism of the athlete in motion.
“The sport illustrations bring the athletes to life in a way that’s never been done before,” said Leo Obstbaum, VANOC director of design. “We were inspired by everything from Canadian art to comic book heroes to the graphic style of some of the edgier sports equipment and fashion. Irene Jacobs translated this to detailed illustrations which capture the intensity, emotion and dynamics of each sport and truly celebrate the athlete.”"
