Hm, I seem to be able to understand what every icon means, but I think it is a bad idea to re-invent the wheel each time a new event takes place. Icons used in earlier competitions looked more intuitive.
Perhaps they’ve given them this oriental style for a reason? Maybe the human shapes resemble Chinese characters?
Either way, the problem with them is that in certain cases the length of the feet or that of hands is not proportional to the height of the body.
Also, I believe icons should contain less curves, and instead they should rely on straight lines.
